About Vadodara (Baroda), Gujarat

Vadodara (also known as Baroda) is situated in western part of India in the state of Gujarat. Vadodara was a princely state before independence and was part of the Gaikwad dynasty with Maharaj Sayajirao Gaikwad contributing for the development of the city as the Cultural Hub of India. Vadodara is also known for its colorful festival of dance “Garba” during the 10 days Dussehra festival and Diwali, Holi, Uttarayan being the other main festivals which brings a out of the world experience for the visitors. Vadodara is having proximity to Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kutch, Rajasthan and Delhi and one can reach these destinations within couple of hours to overnight journey by train or road and its connected to major cities in India by Air and Rail Network. The outskirts of Vadodara is surrounded by Pavagad (Historical Monuments), Narmada Dam & Statue of Unity (Largest Statue in the World), Lothal (Harappan Port), Gandhi Ashram (Ahmedabad) etc. are the other attractions which can be covered within a day. Vadodara is also having museums of artwork by Nandalal Bose & Raja Ravi Verma, the 2 famous Court Artists of Maharaj Sayajirao Gaikwad and MS University being one of the oldest University in India has a Faculty of Fine Arts which is pioneer in Art Movement in India.

Disciplines & Media – Painting, New Media, Mix Media, Curatorial, Performing Arts, Textile Art

Facilities & Amenities – Furnished Accommodation with Beds, Linen, Wardrobe, Air Conditioner, Toilet with Hot and Cold Shower, Private & Shared Studio, WiFi, Functional Kitchen with Refrigerator. Independent Bungalow surrounded four sides with Garden and Gazebo with swings and hammock. The residency is located within 3 kms from Airport, Railway & Bus Terminus. Public transport & Groceries are available within 50 meter walking distance. The city is well connected by App based Cab, Food & Services.

Partners & Kids – Allowed, no extra charges, prior intimation necessary.

CRS Artists Residency

CRS Artists Residency is conceptualized by a board of artists and intellectuals from Vadodara. International Artists applications shall be screened by the committee and deserving artists will get the opportunity for the residency.

The residency period starts from 4 weeks to a maximum period of 1 year. However deserving candidates with different requirements can also be considered in an exceptional cases.

We also can make arrangement for Exhibition at local galaries with commercial agreement with the galleries.

Application Procedure

Artists are invited to apply for residency with the folowing documents:

  1. CV (Curriculum Vitae)
  2. Artist's Statement (limited to 300 words)
  3. Project Proposal (limited to 300 words)
  4. Portfolio - Minimum 6 images (file size limited to 300 KB size in jpf, jpeg, pdf files)

Application Fee: Nil

Residency Fees: USD 500 per month for 1 month, for 2 ~ 3 Months charges are USD 400 per month and for more than 3 months stay charges are USD 300 per month, residency fees are to be paid in advance.

Residency can accomodate 4 artists at one time.

Terms & Conditions – Artists are requested to enter into an agreement before the start of residency.
